July 13, 2010 "Increasing the Flow of Safe Products Throughout the Global Supply Chain" Roundtable Geneva, Switzerland
On July 13, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, CIED member, supported a roundtable discussion on "Increasing the Flow of Safe Products Throughout the Global Supply Chain: Collaborative Solutions for Protecting the Health and Safety of Consumers and Patients" in Geneva, Switzerland. The roundtable was hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Nigerian Missions to the United Nations in Geneva. Representatives from 37 diplomatic missions in Geneva, along with representatives from non-governmental organizations (NGOs), multilateral institutions, and the private sector, attended the event, discussing effective collaborations among all parties to strengthen supply chains and the distribution of safe and reliable pharmaceuticals and consumer goods. Four leaders in the health care sector international experts - Paula Nelson (Africa Matters), Alden Zecha (Sproxil), Cinthya Ramírez (International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Associations), and Aline Plançon (Interpol) - briefed the diplomatic community on the challenges posed by fake products and medicines in developed and developing countries and presented best practices for working collaboratively to address this threat.

June 16, 2010 "The Innovation Life Cycle" Roundtable Geneva, Switzerland
On June 16, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Coalition for Innovation, Employment and Development, supported the Permanent Missions of the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Republic of Kenya in hosting "The Innovation Lifecycle: Opportunities to Accelerate the Transfer and Diffusion of Critically-Needed Technologies" roundtable discussion. The event engaged representatives from 17 diplomatic missions in Geneva, along with representatives from non-governmental organizations, multilateral institutions, and the private sector, to discuss best practices, including the importance of strong IP rights, to developing, commercializing, and diffusing new products and technologies to developing countries.
